Today in the midst of an economic crisis, millions of Americans are finding themselves strapped with credit card debts that they can’t manage. For many they have come to the place that if they pay off their monthly bills, there is nothing left to put food on the table. Add to that the loss of their job, and many have taken the lives of their family members and their own life as well. This is the way to get rid of your credit card debts.
Get rid of your credit cards with the highest interest rates. Contact the credit card companies of those cards, and inform them to close your account so it can’t be used anymore. Let them know that you are planning to pay it off as quickly as possible. If you want to have a card for emergencies, keep the one with the best interest rate, but don’t carry it with you.
Determine to do whatever is necessary to pay off your debts in the quickest amount of time possible. Realize that, in order to accomplish your goal, it will take determination and sacrifice on your part.
Make a budget and don’t go over it. Write down all of your monthly expenses and approximately how much you have to spend for each one. Look over your list and see where you can cut expenses. For now, leave just the things that are necessary for daily living and your monthly bills.
Determine how you can live as cheaply as possible. The goal is to only buy the absolute necessities, and save everything else to pay off your debts. Stay away from stores and online sites where you can purchase items. If you aren’t in a place where you will be tempted to buy, you won’t spend money.
Now you are ready to get rid of your debt. Make it your goal to pay off the card with the highest interest first, then the next highest card and on down to the lowest. Put every bit of extra money you can come up with during the month towards paying off your first card. Don’t forget to make the minimum payment on your other cards. Once you eliminate the first card, add that money to the minimum you were paying on the second card. Continue the same process with each card.
It was easy for you to get into debt, but it won’t be easy to get out of it. It will take every bit of sacrifice, determination and grit you can muster to become debt free. Your debt will begin to decrease incredibly fast if you follow these simple ideas.
